Project Team Members: Reza Aria

The medical realm today has two major issues. First, patients are passive elements in their own health management. Second, it is difficult to transfer meaningful patient health-related information amongst multiple medical devices and software. CareBuddy will allow patients to design and develop their own treatment and care under the supervision of a healthcare professional, and to connect the interoperability amongst multiple and different medical devices, equipment, and software currently used in the market through a single cloud-based platform.

How does your project remove barriers for people with disabilities and/or aging populations?

CareBuddy is committed to letting patients have direct access to their own information, as well as to helping them participate in their own treatment plan development.

Where did the idea for your project come from?

CareBuddy is the result of research conducted during my PhD.

What are the goals and objectives of your project?

My project goal is to develop a platform that helps both patients and physicians communicate and collaborate in a more efficient and effective manner.

Who is the target audience for your project?

The first phase of the project will focus on chronic disease patients and their physicians.

What did you and your team gain from being involved in the Accessibility Project?

Through my involvement in the Accessibility Project, I gained a lot of knowledge regarding the way accessibility projects should work, as well as different requirements of Class II medical devices.

What are your future plans for your project?

The plan is to start promoting the project among relevant audiences as soon as we have developed the minimum viable product.
