Weardasun is a smart heated wearable technology, developed to eliminate the limitations of conventional winter wears and to prevent and take away the pain of chronic illnesses related to the head, hand joints, and other health issues which are caused and triggered by harsh low temperatures.

How does your project remove barriers for people with disabilities and/or aging populations?

Weardasun provides patients with comfortable and reliable smart heated wearables for the purpose of eliminating risks of injuries and preventing life-threatening conditions caused and triggered by changes in temperature and freezing weather.

Where did the idea for your project come from?

Our project was created because we were directly impacted and realized how better our quality of life could be if we were given a viable solution that could protect us against cold weather.

What are the goals and objectives of your project?

Weardasun is not trying to make tech wearable, but rather trying to make wearable things technology-enabled. The main objectives of this project are to eliminate the limitations of conventional winter apparel, to eliminate the flaws of existing heated apparel, and to make more wearables such as scarves and hats that can diminish chronic pain while being exposed to dropping temperatures.

Who is the target audience for your project?

Weardasun is geared towards individuals in their 20s to 70s with health conditions such as asthma, arthritis, migraine headaches, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, trigeminal nerve pain, Raynaud’s and Dupuytren’s disease, and low blood circulation.

What did you and your team gain from being involved in the Accessibility Project?

The Accessibility Project pushed us to plan and see the future with much more detail and calculation. Most importantly, it allowed us to focus our time and efforts to achieve greater results in finishing the technological side of our product.

What are your future plans for your project?

Weardasun is bringing the first heated wearables that are smart, meaning that the device can connect to smartphones to show useful information such as the battery life and temperature. The app would allow the user to have full control over the device through an intuitive GUI. We have plans of developing frequent updates to our app and hardware to support more features such as sensors that would unleash health tracking information.
